A Wedding in Lyme Regis and River Cottage – Devon

This was such a special wedding to photograph and such a good day, probably the sunniest wedding of the year!  We started the day on the coast in Lyme Regis in Devon for an intimate ceremony in the Guildhall before heading to the beach for our wedding photo shoot.  Being a wedding photographer in Devon, I often get to do beach photo shoots but the conditions aren’t always as good as this!

We then moved on to Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage for the reception.  What a laid back and beautiful wedding venue!  The food was delicious (of course!), and the afternoon was fun filled with garden games and drinks. In the evening we were treated to some very entertaining speeches and then some fun in the photo booth.I really enjoyed photographing this wedding and look forward to many more in the same area.  Full gallery here.

This wedding was recently featured on one of the UK’s top wedding blogs, Love My Dress, and is soon to be seen in the pages of Devon’s stylish wedding magazine, WED. I loved Tehya’s choice of Elizabeth Avey 1950s style wedding dress with the glittery wedding shoes from Kate Spade.

Vicki and Pietro at The Scarlet Hotel

Scarlet Hotel Wedding Photography Cornwall – As featured on the popular wedding blog Love My Dress…  Well, what can I say about Vicki and Pietro’s wedding.  It really was such a beautiful and intimate day!  They took so much time to plan and prepare a really bespoke event.  All the details were so carefully thought out and that Jenny Packham dress is so elegant. The venue was the fabulous Scarlet Hotel in Mawgan Porth on Cornwall’s north coast, near Newquay.  Vicki and Pietro invited their nearest and dearest to spend the weekend with them in the luxury eco-hotel.

Michelle from Pocketful of Dreams was on hand, she helped plan and co-ordinate the event. She will be featuring some of the images in the near future to write a behind the scenes post about the day on her blog Pocketful of Dreams.

Pietro and Vicki call each other “Pie and Mash” – this was referenced several times throughout the day.  Just check out Vicki’s bespoke coat hanger for her dress!  I’m a big fan of the stationary with custom made logo by Sugalily and the gorgeous laser cut place settings by Cutture.

A Fort Wedding in Cornwall

Wedding Photographer in Cornwall

I loved the light on this week-day wedding at Polhawn Fort in South East Cornwall. All the colours seemed to compliment each other so well and Liz’s dress looked great on the beach with the silver shimmer in the rocks and sea. As a wedding photographer in Cornwall, I visit this venue a lot. It amazes me how the weather can change the look of the place so dramatically and often be totally different conditions to Plymouth just around the other side of the Rame Peninsula. On this particular day we had no wind – it was cold but still and considering the weather we’ve been having lately we were lucky it didn’t snow!

Simon and Liz travelled to Cornwall especially for this unique wedding location. How lovely to have a wedding by the sea with a private beach – oh and the reception in an old Fort (which has a peaceful history by the way). Whitsand Bay is my old stomping ground. I spent my childhood living in one of the wooden chalets on the cliff here, so it’s always nice to return to my old playground

It was such a touching moment when Liz stopped half way down the aisle to say hello to Simon’s grandfather – I’m not sure if it was planned but it was a lovely moment.

The photo booth was a lot of fun and I was so pleased when a big funk band turned up to play – they got everyone dancing straight away … always a good investment! To see the full gallery FOLLOW THIS LINK and enter Simon’s last name (all lower case).

An Easter Wedding on the Devon and Cornwall Border

Devon Wedding Photographer

I’m very pleased to be able to share this Easter wedding with you today. It was an exceptionally cold Easter weekend here in England, but this wedding on the site of Ali’s family Sawmill was quite an event nonetheless. Steve and Ali both live and work in the local areas of Tavistock and Gulworthy – they are in Devon but in spitting distance to my homeland of Cornwall. Ali and the girls started the day at Colcharton Farm B&B on the edge of Dartmoor, while Steve and the guys were at home. They had an Easter church service. I loved it when their kids came to join them at the alter at the end of the ceremony.

The reception was held at Bowrish Sawmill. The family spent months clearing one of their fields especially for the wedding and the marquee. They used the wood from the trees they felled as part of the table decorations and for cheese platters. This wedding was totally homespun – the best kind in my opinion. There were tonnes of homemade touches, and Ali’s aunt was in charge of the evening Paella. Oh, and there were a few Alpacas on site … that’s standard for a wedding isn’t it?! Congratulations Ali and Steve it was a pleasure to be part of your big day. Sarah and Bear x
